Can anyone help with cute guy?

There's this cute guy at my school and i want to ask him out. His name is Doug. I like him and whenever we were working on a school project he was really nice. The only problem is I told him a secret that freaked him out but i thought i trusted him enough to have me tell him that. It's been abouot 4 months since that's happened, so should I ask him out? Also could you help me figure out how to ask him. This guy will have been my first boyfriend.
