8 year old budgie getting angrier?

Hormones...... Every bird goes through hormonal periods. Their instincts are to mate, but when not given the opportunity they can get a bit "nippy"- wouldn't you?! I am definitely NOT saying to mate him (her). In fact I am quite against the creating of more of all parrots. You just need to understand the things they are going through. It will p,but will happen several times a year. There are things you can do to help. It is hard to explain in this forum as it can be complex w/ lighting, different food & handling. Quick examples: don't stroke its back during this time, don't have areas that seem like nesting spaces,less showers, not as rich food. In the wild they will mate when all the criteria is right & we need to fake it. My Grey is majorly in it right now- they can be nasty!! Get used to it. They are wild animals living in an unnatural world. Find an Avian Vet for more detailed help. Love Him!! Good Luck
